My running journey

I've been running competitively for over 25 years, from track to ultramarathons. In 2023 I won gold at the Invictus Games, ran a 3:03 marathon, and podiumed at two ultras.

I ran through pregnancy and returned to racing weeks after giving birth - but that's my story, not a benchmark. Everyone's path back looks different.

I was the first woman to pass P Company selection tests before a stress fracture ended the attempt. My proudest setback was the Dragons Back Race 2024 - timed out after miles of backward downhill running. I adapted: rolling trails, strength work, smarter nutrition.

Today I'm an injured runner with a knee that won't fully heal - but running is smarter, more intentional, and more sustainable than ever.

Life in the Shropshire hills

Most days you'll find me outside - running trails, walking the dog, or cold dipping in wild water.

I'm a Mercia Fell Runners member, more often marshalling or sweeping than racing fells these days. Encouraging those at the back of the field brings me as much joy as racing.

As an NHS GP I focus on veterans' and women's health. Nineteen years in the Army shaped how I coach: practical, compassionate, grounded in real life.
